Established in 1960, FTU has developed from a single university to a multi-disciplinary university with diversified and competitive programs which are highly adaptable to the process of International integration in Vietnam and the world economy.

FTU graduates, working in Vietnam or abroad, are all highly respected for their excellent skills including not only professional knowledge but also foreign languages, and for being very dynamic, creative and self-confident. Thanks to this, in 2006, FTU has been awarded Golden Cup"Viet Brand"by Vietnam Union of Science andTechnology Association (VUSTA).

Since becoming the 150th member of the WTO, Vietnam has entered a new phase of economic growth. With this new opportunity, FTU understands the need for an entirely new approach to University education. Therefore, its long term strategy clearly shows that the developmental goal of FTU is to develop high quality training, to strengthen FTU's reputation as the key institution in training talented and high qualified individuals in economics, business and foreign languages to meet the needs of Vietnam and the international labour market, to enhance the research capability to become a prestigious research center, and to build up the status of the university regionally and internationally.

With these aims in mind, FTU today is driving forward with reforms in both education and research activities. Our two campuses are always open, surging with the power of a variety of values and talented people. FTU students are not only equipped with professional and foreign language skills, but also provided many opportunities to participate and initiate in social and professional activities that nurture their creativity, responsibility, and ability. FTU, true to its new strategic base, will nurture global students, with a focus on training them to think for themselves, to be able to express their own ideas, and to work for the global community with a strong sense of mission and commitment.
